Even A Technoklutz Can Create An Online Course–At No Cost!!

I can say that because I consider myself a technoklutz …

…and I now have my first online course ready to launch.

Production costs: $0

As much as I love the benefits of most technology, I don’t have much love for technology itself.

To me, technology is a tool that makes it easier to do what I truly love doing: writing and helping adults learn. As a result, whenever it comes to things technological, my normal approach is: when all else fails, try the instructions.

That’s probably what qualifies me as a technoklutz.

Creating An Online Course

As a big fan of adult education, I appreciate the great benefits that online courses deliver.

In my mind, the best online courses are offered by Coursera.

And why not?  They are produced by universities around the world to showcase their best professors and instructors.  As much as I would have loved to create an online course for Coursera, my lack of university connections ruled out this option.

About a year ago, a private sector organization invited me to create an online course.  This seemed like a viable opportunity … until I leaned that the cost to me would be $15,000 USD.  Another obstacle to my dream of creating online courses.

About six weeks ago, another private sector organization invited me to collaborate on creating and promoting online course.  Instead of my paying production costs, I would receive a share of the revenue by way of royalty.

Long story short: my first online course needs only some minor tweaking before launch

A Steep Learning Curve Conquered

Looking back at the process of creating this course, two factors stand out.

First, as daunting as the learning curve appeared, it really wasn’t as overwhelming as I made it out to be.  In fact, putting my self-inflicted technical issues aside (don’t ask), the process was quite straight forward.

The second factor was equally gratifying: whenever I encountered a technical issue, the support people were consistently prompt and patient, understanding and helpful.

Grow Your Following; Add Value to Your Service

All things considered, I really do believe that even a techoklutz can create an online course.

And from a marketing perspective, online courses represent an ideal opportunity to reach more people.

Online courses can and do and attract more ideal clients.  They also offer added value to existing clients.

In my case, my new online course is the first of at least 20 over the next couple of years.  Now that I have mastered the steepest part of the learning curve, I’m confident that the development time can be shortened from six weeks to just a few days.

If you are an expert in your field, you will probably benefit from an online course.  And regardless of your technical skills, you can probably also manage the technology involved.  If I did, you can too. Really!

How to Get Referrals Using Your Firm’s Visible ExpertsGiven that my first course is about generating referrals, I’m going to walk my talk.  Instead of just posting a link, I want to personalize the process and make qualified referrals.

If you would like to know more about creating an online course, send me a message and we can go from there.

Hopefully, if it turns out that you decide to pursue the opportunity, I can help expedite the process of making it happen.

On the other hand, if once you learn more you decide to take a pass, we can save time and hassle.

How does that sound?
