Without even realizing it, I have entered the world of digital marketing.
Having been aware of the concept for a couple of years, I wasn’t clear how where and when the process of digitizing my messages would fit into my marketing. But as occurs so frequently in life,it appeared on its own—totally unplanned and unannounced,
My Book List
Last week,I wrote about why Ebooks can be effective tools for marketing. After completing the latest round of editing, I wanted to add a list of all ebooks to each book. This smallish task was like a publisher adding a list of an author’s publications to his or her books. In my case, I added a few words of explanation to the list and bingo! A marketing communication piece that can be read on mobile devices in addition to desktop and laptop computers.
Yes, I have entered the new world of digitized marketing, without even realizing it. All marketing should be this easy.
If like me, you have been doing other things and missed it, digitizing your marketing is now where it’s at.
The ever helpful Wikipedia explains it as:
“… marketing that makes use of electronic devices such as computers, tablets, smartphones, cellphones, digitized billboards, and game consoles to engage with consumers and other business partners. Internet Marketing is a major component ..”.
As with all emerging trends, there is lot of new information to process.
On the other hand, the entry of digital marketing into our fields of awareness is yet the latest in the evolution of tools and techniques that help us connect and communicate with our market.
In today’s world, it’s not always easy to meet face-to-face with potentially ideal clients, let alone communicate effectively with them. And when we are fortunate enough to have these in-person meetings, more often than not, it’s hard to tear ourselves away from our mobile devices and cell phones.
Ever the optimist and a lifelong learner, I’m quite looking forward to learning how digitized marketing can help enhance the ways in which I communicate with professionals like you.
At this point, it looks like the ideal approach for marketing my content and information products, which in the not-too-distant past, we used to call books and training resources.
Regardless of how and where this digitization journey proceeds, it will generate a ton of experience, all of which will be rich with learning potential.
